what are the most common reasons of shin splints in your running?

Here are some of the most common reasons due to which you may experience this type of injury

There is always a time in the runner's life when one day he or she suddenly started experiencing some kind of a pain in the lower part of his or her legs while running some distance and the pain usually last more than a day or two depending on the body and its pace of recovery. The pain is usually more concentrated inside the front bone or tibia and the pain can be felt whenever someone trying to put stresses on that part. So today in this blog we are going to discuss some of the most common reasons behind this injury and also look after some of the most effective ways of recovering but first, let us understand some of the basic contributions of this bone in our running.

As we all know our lower legs acquire two bones, one which is the fibula which runs parallel to the tibia and is thin and large as compared to the shin bone. The main purpose of this bone is to stabilize the ankle and support some muscles of your lower legs. This bone can said to be crucial while rolling the foot on the ground. If someone is having some issues in his ankle while stepping he could experience some pain but it's very rare. The other one is tibia which is the larger one and plays an important role in the bearing of stresses accompanied by a fibula. It is connected with knee and ankle from the top and bottom side and due to its shape, it accepts all the stresses effectively but sometimes when continuous pressure has applied the muscle surrounding it tends to sore and forward all the stresses directly to this bone which causes injury like shin splints which is experienced mostly in the inferior side of the bone. The more negative side of these stresses is that if it continues to transfer directly to tibia than it could lead to serious injury like stress fracture which requires more time to recover followed by proper diet. So now let's discuss some of the main reasons behind this and how one could avoid such type of injuries

Increase slowly

One of the most reasons, the runner who tends to increase his distance without any proper intervals of training or any gradual increase. The body is not used to cover that much greater distance so you must increase your distance gradually like 1 to 2 KM after every 7 to 8 intervals which suit for me and it can be different for others so try to know your body and go with the flow when your body is ready to accept.

Overweight

You can also face this injury if you are overweight as your body is taking some extra kilos which results as greater stresses. So you must maintain the BMI of your body to avoid this injury
Here you can your ideal BMI according to your age and height and it will also provide you with some tips and advice regarding your weight and diet

Wrong shoe selection

Yes, you can experience shin splints if you are running in the wrong shoe for the whole time. If you haven't selected the type of shoe according to your foot type you could experience so it is better to find out your foot type and select suitable pairs of shoes accordingly. so these were some of the most common reasons which most of the runners faced at least once in their life.
